An assistant youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ejiro Ikpikpini, has been stabbed and strangled to death by suspected hired assassins.
The ugly incident was said to have occurred on Sunday, July 22, in Ikpikpini's resident at Uloho Avenue by men said to be eight in number.
Vanguard reports that the deceased who was the youth leader of the Chief Cyril Ogodo-led executive of Delta state chapter of the APC was stabbed and then strangled by his assailants.
Confirming the incident, the publicity secretary of his executive, Aghogho Orotoma, said Ikpikpini was killed in his residence on Sunday, July 22.
Also, sources said the assailants who did not take anything away from the scene of the incident stormed Ikpikpini residence at 2.30 am on Sunday.
The source said they assailants went straight to his apartment, stabbed him multiple times before strangling him.
A member of the Otor-Iwhreko community executive where the deceased served said the incident might be connected to some lingering issues relating to revenue collection at the Otor-Iwhreko end of Ughelli main market.
The executive who pleaded anonymity said: “There had been a clash between rival members of the revenue committee, which was put in place by elders of the community, to collect money from traders at the main market.
“So far, one person has been arrested in connection with the incident, while others are being hunted for questioning," the executive added.

The monarch was said to have been brutally murdered on Wednesday on the road between Ijako and Isagbo in Oke-Odan area.
