Storyline:
John and Laura Taylor (Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall) are a young, professional couple who desperately want a baby. After exhausting all other options, they finally hire Anna (Jaz Sinclair), the perfect woman to be their surrogate - but as she gets further along in her pregnancy, so too does her psychotic and dangerous fixation on the husband. The couple becomes caught up in Anna's deadly game and must fight to regain control of their future before it's too late.
Pros and Cons.
I didn't expect much from this movie as it is a remake several times over and it didn't disappoint me in its blandness. What surprised me was the racism thrown in my face.
A black couple wants a child and needs a black surrogate mother. Fine. That's the story, now let's begin the extreme racism. There are basically only three white men presented in the film. They are the only people who are egotistical, immoral jackasses, and the only reason why the crazy black woman is crazy – blaming her condition on her degenerate foster father (who was what? You guessed it - a white rapist and murdered by her) and her abusive boyfriend (who was what? You guessed it, also white, super-abusive and murdered by her). All the other characters in this movie are victims, who just happen to be black except the white boss who with total whiteness demotes the poor innocent black man for no good reason.
The male lead was good and the surrogate mother was pretty, but the rest is on the level of just okay, nothing outstanding. I knew everything that was going to happen, from the girl finding the shot gun, to the wife hitting her with the car, to the girl sneaking into the house to cause mayhem. The baby incubator mother was presented as completely sane throughout most of the movie, until they could spoon feed the audiences excuses for her insanity due to what? You guessed it – white people. The director even has a go at the police who are presented as hostile, man hating thugs who scream a lot at the poor victimized black man. Besides being completely predictable and boring I really don't have that much to say about this waste of time production.
