Man-u fans celebrates Van Persie's goal against them at Europa

Sir Alex Ferguson was celebrating a goal against Manchester United for the first time in his life tonight and it was all thanks to one man – Robin van Persie.

The Dutchman was making his return to Old Trafford with new side Fenerbahce and recieved a warm welcome from the Theatre of Dreams faithful.

The 33-year-old spent three seasons in the north-west and inspired United to their 20th league title during Ferguson’s final season at the club.

United were in control throughout the clash against the Turkish giants and were leading 4-0 with five minutes to go.

But Van Persie was not to be denied the perfect return and got himself on the scoresheet against his former side.

The goal was given a round of applause by the 71,000-strong crowd at Old Trafford and Van Persie’s former boss was seen leading the celebrations from the directors’ box.
