A member of JTF Vigilante was on Thursday shot and killed by yet to be identified gunmen at about 1:pm along Palace Road, Omoku.

The deceased, identified as Nodi Nwachukwu Osam, 27, was until his gruesome death, the Provost Marshall of the commander.

A source who confirmed the incident to ONELGA News on condition of anonymity disclosed that assailants opened fire at the vigilante boys. He noted that the vigilante boys were not equipped properly to counter the superior force of the attackers.

Vigilante Comdr. Adah Nwachukwu, also confirmed the development, and restated his appeals to government and public spirited individuals to equip the force with patrol van, and other logistics to enable them carry out operations.

Nwachukwu lamented that 20 of his boys had died in the hands of hoodlums terrorizing ONELGA.

Meanwhile, the former CTC Chairman of ONELGA, Prince Isaac Umejuru has condemned the killing of the security agent, describing it as " unwarranted attack " against security agents.

The former council boss decried growing security threat in Omoku, adding that the perpetrators of the dastardly act will never go unpunished.
As of the time of filling this report, Rivers state Police command is yet to confirm the incident.
